Karim McFarlane founded My Healthy Community, with the vision that information is power. His goal is to empower the people of his community by providing them with the information and knowledge that will enable them to live a healthy and productive life. The belief is that a holistic approach is more successful when tackling issues as big as obesity.
Karim has a strong background in athletics and fitness. It was through athletics he was able to learn the importance of fitness, diet and nutrition. Karim grew up in the Bronx, where he attended James Monroe High School. From Monroe, Karim went on to play baseball at Division II Mercy College where he was a 2-year starter. After graduating from Mercy College, with a Masters Degree in Public Administration, Karim went on to work with the NYC Early intervention Program, Children’s Aid Society- P.I.N.S. Diversion Program and Harlem Children’s Zone (Athletic Director).
Undersized but determined, Karim tried out for the Arena football team the NY/NJ Revolution and made it as a defensive back. Karim went on to play 3 years with the Revolution, one year spent as the player coach (Assistant defensive back coach).

Garnett has a strong background in business and philanthropic ventures, most recently. The Managing Principal and Chief Consultant at Jadawise Consulting, Garnett previously served as the Corporate Safety Officer for a 3 Hospital Healthcare System, providing services to more than 1,200,000 people across 6 counties in North Carolina and as the Co-Chair of the MedWest Foundation.
A graduate of Regis University, with a MBA in Health Service Administration, Garnett possess more than 15 years of health services management experience.
Garnett has served as the Chairman of the Georgia Hospital Association Preparedness Committee, Co-Chair of the Mountain Area Trauma Region Advisory Committee (MATRAC), Co-Chairperson of Western North Carolina Preparedness and Response Committee, Technical Advisor to the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and continues his memberships with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the
International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM)
Born in Jamaica, Garnett became a representative of his high school, his national and later the New York City Tech soccer teams.

2006- Played for (GLIFL) New Jersey Revolution as WR/DB/KR 2007- Played for (GLIFL) Lehigh Valley Outlaws as WR/DB/KR and coached Clinton H.S 2009- Coached at Kennedy H.S 2010- Trained children on the fundamentals of football at P.S.T and also worked for Parisi Speed School 2011-2012.

Isabell has worked many years with H&R Block as a Manager of Tax Specialists. She brings a wealth of knowledge in the field accounting as she holds a degree in accounting from Baruch College.
Director of Creative Services
A Long Island native and graduate of Adelphi University, Nicole is a strategic yet creative designer with an extensive background in marketing. She's worked at well known agencies on the island and now runs her own design firm, Nikster Designs. Although her skill set is vast, Nicole's greatest expertise lies within print design. Her goal is to combine her knowledge, skills & experience to deliver the highest quality work for her clients.
Health and Wellness Consultant
Rana is an experienced mental health therapist and wellness coach. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Howard University and later obtained a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. Rana comes from a long line of healers and has 17 years experience creating wellness venues for others. She has lectured and facilitated workshops domestically and abroad. Her overseas travel to Europe, the UK, Asia, South America, Africa, the Caribbean and residence in Ghana, West Africa has laid the groundwork for her far reaching world view. She has completed coursework in alternative medicine ranging from nutrition to shamanic healing; coupled with certification as an American Kick Boxing instructor and training in Muay Thai.
She has been featured in a number of national publications for her fitness, wellness coaching and business acumen. Rana has credits in television health segments, locally, nationally and internationally, including health coach for Discovery Health Channel’s six program mini series, entitled “Health Cops: Sentenced to Health”, which premiered in 2002. She starred as one of two life coaches on Season 1 of NBC’s groundbreaking program, “Starting Over” which aired daily and garnered an Emmy for her role as life coach.
Rana is dedicated to total personal development – mind, body and spirit. Her coaching system provides holistic life changing guidance combined with challenging clients’ self-imposed limitations with innovative and intense mental, physical and spiritual activities. After four years of intense spiritual coursework Rana has become a licensed spiritual practitioner to further deepen her awareness. Rana has co-produced television programming since 2001 and recently renewed her love for writing as evidenced in her column Self Love...Mind, Body, Spirit for a publication celebrating Africa and the Diaspora. She has translated her zest for life into her life’s passion – helping others to see who they are in truth.
Yudy K. Persaud MD/MPH
Dr. Persaud is currently working at the Allergy and Asthma Center at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital which is located in what is considered by many as the asthma capital of the U.S.. Dr. Persaud is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and is an adult and pediatric allergy and asthma specialist. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Albert Einstein School of Medicine and practices at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

Kostas (Gus) Cheliotis serves as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of HGI and is focused on HGI’s investments in financial institutions, including insurance, reinsurance, specialty finance and asset management.
Kostas (Gus) Cheliotis serves as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of HGI and is focused on HGI’s investments in financial institutions, including insurance, reinsurance, specialty finance and asset management. Mr. Cheliotis leads HGI’s legal teams responsible for transactions related to financial services businesses, and he also currently serves as a board member of Fidelity & Guaranty Life, Front Street Re and HGI Asset Management Holdings. Prior to joining HGI, Mr. Cheliotis served as Vice President & Investment Counsel of Harbinger Capital. Mr. Cheliotis started his career in 2002 as an Associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions group. At Milbank, he represented public and private companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, complex joint ventures, restructurings and other corporate transactions. He has completed transactions throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States in numerous regulated and non-regulated industries including, among others, insurance, financial services, gaming, telecommunications, power and energy, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and airlines. Mr. Cheliotis received his B.A. from St. John’s University, magna cum laude and his J.D. from New York Law School, summa cum laude, where he was a member of the Law Review.
